Miley Cyrus’ Los Angeles home was swarmed by police, fire and rescue squads responding to a report of a possible home invasion, but the pop star was apparently the victim of a “swatting” prank.

Law enforcement officials said a 911 call came in Wednesday at 6:50 p.m. PT, stating a possible home invasion with possible shots fired at Cyrus’ home.

“We responded to a call of a kidnapping in progress, one person shot, at an address on Amanda Drive,” North Hollywood police said.

A recording of a two-way police radio call from Wednesday night seems to confirm that an incident occurred at an address corresponding with where Cyrus lives.

Officers established a perimeter and, with their guns drawn, approached the house. Everything was quiet and no one was home.

Police determined it was a false call and declared it a possible “swatting” prank in which bogus calls are made in an attempt to get SWAT cops to bust down doors of innocent people.

Josh Hutcherson called in to “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” on Thursday to talk about preparing for his role in “The Hunger Games” sequel, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” but he also spilled some details about his co-star Liam Hemsworth‘s upcoming nuptials.

“I’m definitely going to go. I’m for sure gonna go. Liam’s my boy! I’m definitely going to be there to support him. I haven’t been invited, so I have to get the invite first to know if I’m going. “I know when I talked to him that they hadn’t had any plans. This was like a couple months ago when they first had made an announcement, but I don’t know what the plans are. I know he’s in Philly, I think he was in New Orleans for a while too, he’s been bouncing around. It’s tough when you’re in a relationship and you’re on set. I’m not in one right now because of that. Because I’m about ready to go away for like four months and it’s very challenging to keep your mind focused…”

Los Angeles police responded to what they believed was a home invasion at Miley Cyrus‘ property on Wednesday night, Gossip Cop confirms.

The LAPD tells Gossip Cop they received a 911 call just before 7 p.m., in which the unknown caller claimed there were intruders at the starlet’s home and shots had possibly been fired.

When the cops arrived — with their guns drawn — they found no such scene.

In fact, Cyrus wasn’t even home.

“We believed there was a crime in progress,” the LAPD spokesperson tells Gossip Cop.

The officer says it’s likely the call was actually from a “911 abuser,” someone who repeatedly calls in false reports of crimes — a punishable offense.

The department will be investigating the matter further.

A rep for Cyrus has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Miley is said to attend the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. The award show will air live from the Staples centre on Thursday, 6th September at 8/7c.

Miley’s manager confirmed that Miley will be attending the VMAs this year (thanks @TeamMileyNY).

I can't wait to see what she'll wear and if she'll maybe even host, present or perform.
